Porto Novo, Nov 10 (Inforpress) – In 2021, Porto Novo will receive 130 million escudos in order to, among other interventions, start the rehabilitation works of the sewage network, within the framework of the Santo Antão Water and Sanitation Project.
The information was gave by the councilman of the City Hall of Porto Novo, Valter Silva, on the day that Santo Antão receives a joint mission from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (Badea) and the National Water Agency (ANAS) “to resume the first phase of the sanitation and water project” for this island.
According to a note from the Government, the mission, which will remain in Santo Antão until Friday, the 13th, has on its agenda working meetings with the City Halls of the island, in addition to the presentation of the project for the prevention and management of conflicts on the use of water.
The Santo Antão Water and Sanitation Project, estimated at 1.2 billion, was launched in September 2019 by the Government of Cabo Verde, but “for reasons linked to COVID-19” it was suspended. It will be resumed from 2021 with allocation by the Government in the State Budget (OE) for the next year a sum of 130 milion escudos to start the interventions.
