Praia, April 28 (Inforpress) – The Deputy Speaker of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, Orlando Dias, defended on Thursday the strengthening of Cabo Verde’s integration into the community space in socially, political, but especially economic area.
In the margins of the decentralized meeting of the ECOWAS Joint Commission in Praia between 25 and 29 April on “Challenges of illegal migration and underemployment of young people in West Africa”, the Cabo Verdean MP said that the country has political and democratic stability, legal security and geostrategic position essential to enter into the market of the community, made up of 300 million inhabitants.
“The ECOWAS countries are very fond of Cabo Verde and we must strengthen our integration in the community and promote the country,” said the MP, adding that the archipelago has “excellent” relations with the European Union, United States and with China, which can enable it to serve as a platform for entry of large companies into the ECOWAS market.
For this, Orlando Dias believes that the country needs to improve its air link with the countries of the continent that are part of the community and not only, but also the maritime link that is still “precarious and practically non-existent”, so that can have trade exchanges and improving economic conditions.
