Vice-PM classifies pozzolan exploration concession as “extremely important” for the creation of 80 new job positions

Praia, 03 May, (Inforpress) – The vice prime minister, Olavo Correia, today reiterated the importance of signing the concession contract for exploitation of pozzolana in Santo Antão, which provides 80 direct jobs for young people on the island.

“It is a project of enormous importance for Porto Novo, for Santo Antão, but also for Cabo Verde,” said Olavo Correia, during his speech from the city of Praia, at the signing of the document that took place in Santo Antão between a representative of Cimpor and the general director of Heritage and Public Procurement.

According to the Minister of Finance and Business Development and Minister of the Digital Economy, this is a joint project to benefit young people, stressing that to achieve this “investment is needed” in areas of public domain.

“We want, increasingly, to attract national and foreign investors such as Cimpor, which is looking to Cabo Verde to invest and which has been investing for decades and serving the islands and their development process,” he added, ensuring that the aim is to shorten the timeframe for completion of the works stipulated for 18 months.
