Praia, May14 (Inforpress) – UNTC-CS general secretary Joaquina Almeida questioned the Government’s authority before public institutions which have used ‘lay-off’, when the executive’s guidelines were that public companies could not use this instrument.
Joaquina Almeida made these statements to the press this Wednesday, explaining that the Government is being “challenged and disallowed” by the president of the Civil Aviation Agency, who says, “absolutely refuses” to obey its political guidelines.
Likewise, she pointed out that the president of Cabo Verde Handling promoted a “wave of redundancies” in almost all the islands, contrary to the guidelines to prevent redundancies.
“It seems that the Government has lost control of that company and public agency, since the respective presidents do not comply with the guidelines,” she said, adding that “illegal dismissals” are taking place.
Joaquina Almeida also denounced practice at DB-Protect, a private security company, which has been promoting redundancies, including pregnant workers, when, according to her, the “law prohibits”.
