Praia, Jun 18 (Inforpress) – The United Nations System in Cabo Verde inaugurated Thursday, in the city of Praia, an urban painting wall aimed at raising awareness and educating for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The act, framed in the framework of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, took place at the Pedro Gomes School, in Achada Santo António, was chaired by the resident coordinator of the United Nations System in Cabo Verde, Ana Graça, and was attended by the national director of Education and the students from this school.
According to the coordinator, the initiative had “the great joint effort” of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and citizens who helped to pass this message of ecosystem protection, in the year was launched the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Parallel to the issue of the COVID-19 pandemic, she considered “it is also urgent to reflect and act” on the issue of the climate crisis, and Cabo Verde with its “wealth in the oceans” and natural resources has done “a great achievement” of renewing renewable energies and protecting marine activities.
