Union officials receive training to combat alcohol abuse

Praia, Oct 15 (Inforpress) – A group of union officials started this Wednesday in the city of Praia, a training course in the fight against alcohol abuse, an event that served to mark the anniversary of the entry into force of the new law of alcohol.

In the opening session, Manuel Faustino, head of the Civil House and coordinator of the Less Alcohol More Life Campaign, also a psychiatric doctor, said that the meeting has as its “symbolic objective” to celebrate the first anniversary of the entry into force of the new alcohol law, which was on October 5, 2019.

“Objectively, what we want to do is associate the unions to the campaign, through the two centrals union [UNTC-CS and CCS]. The objective is to train, there is no use just raising awareness, there is no use just saying it is necessary to have knowledge so that in fact the law can be known and fully complied with”, he explained.

The official also stressed that the law must be disclosed and taken to all so that workers can know their obligations and their rights, because the law imposes obligations and duties, but it has a broad perspective of prevention, in the responsibility of workers and the responsibility of employers.
