Union denounces non-compliance with tripartite agreement by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment

Ribeira Grande, Apr 9  (Inforpress) – The Free Union of Workers of SantoAntão (SLTSA) denounced in Ribeira Grande the failure by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) of a tripartite agreement signed under mediation by the Directorate-General for Labour (DGT).

In a press conference, the SLTSA permanent secretary, Carlos Bartolomeu Lima Gomes, explained that the signing of this tripartite agreement resulted in suspension of a 48-hour strike notice, scheduled  for 12:00 AM on February 17, but it has now been compromised by the retreat of the MAA in relation to compliance with the “point 2” of the memorandum of understanding, regarding the return of discounts made in workers’ salaries and who have not reached the INPS.

It is that, in a note sent to the SLTSA, the ministry states that the discounts made in the period in question were not intended for the National Institute of Social Security (INPS), but to the Single Social Tax (TSU), which also deals with retirement pensions, so, in the opinion of the heads of the ministry, this amount can not be returned.

The SLTSA permanent secretary, Carlos Bartolomeu Lima Gomes, has a different understanding because, as he explained to journalists, MAA workers from all over the island of Santo Antão, had to negotiate the payment of the amounts for that same period to be able to count on these discounts on their retirement pensions.
