UNDP representative considers that parliament plays a crucial role in democracy

Praia, Jun 6 (Inforpress) – The representative of the UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF Joint Office, David Matern, considered today that parliament plays a crucial role in democracy and its proper working.

David Matern made these remarks to the press after being received by the President of the National Assembly, Austelino Correia, in his Office, which aimed to strengthen the partnership with the parliament and improve coordination, aiming at better engagement, implementation and results of the projects that the institutions in question intend to develop in the near future.

The representative of the UNDP Office said that it was an opportunity to meet personally with the president of parliament, considering it an “excellent meeting”, further reinforcing the “crucial” role that parliament plays in this democracy and in its proper functioning.

“I am particularly grateful that Austelino Correia presented me with the Constitution of Cabo Verde as well”.
