Praia, Sep 27 (Inforpress) – Inter-island air and sea transport, security are some of the Government priorities and are included in the “big options” of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development with horizon 2030 presented today at Praia city.

The two sectors as well as others “are very important for the promotion of sustainable tourism in Cabo Verde, stressed the Minister of Economy and Employment, José Gonçalves, in the presentation of the plan.

“We want tourism to be a renewable and non-exhaustible resource. Hence the importance of speaking today on the “great options” of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development with horizon 2030, explained José Gonçalves.

The minister said that “the Government wants to develop sustainable tourism that brings benefits to the population, which creates employment and wealth, that develops more responsibly” our cultural and environmental heritage.

“On this International Tourism Day we celebrate the Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, we note interestingly that the concept of ‘Sustainable Tourism’ is little known in Cabo Verde, even among professionals in the sector who quite understand ‘sustainable tourism’ as the segment of tourism related to the ‘Ecotourism’ modality, stressed the Minister.
