Praia, Feb 3 (Inforpress) – Today is two years since Nina and Filú, two cousins, disappeared without a trace, while the Judiciary Police (PJ) guarantees that the case is still under investigation.
“The case is still under investigation,” Adérito Moreno, head of the PJ’s Crimes Against People Investigation Section, told Inforpress, when asked to comment on the case that left the families of those children “sunk in a sea of pain”.
Asked if family members have been informed about the progress of the investigation process, he replied: “as far as possible, we have kept family members informed”. However, the family spokeswoman, Arlinda Mendes, mother of Sandro Mendes, (Filú), contradicts this information. Isa, as she is also known, says that in the first year following the disappearance of the two cousins, they were sometimes contacted by the Cabo Verdean authorities, but “for more than a year, no one has contacted the family to say anything”.
“When one year [of the disappearance] was completed, I went to the PJ, but I was unable to speak to anyone who wanted to because they told me that he was not present”, she laments, adding that she was unable to go to the Judiciary Police more often because of her job.
The families, as she revealed to Inforpress, always in that expectation of one day being surprised by the news of the appearance of the two children, “do not leave the television”.
“My mother’s life is to be in front of the television to hear something about the appearance of Nina and Filú”, she said.
