Praia, Feb 27 (inforpress) – WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus congratulated Cape Verde on its “success” in controlling the transmission of malaria and HIV/AIDS and expressed willingness and expectation to visit the archipelago, revealed the government today.
In his message addressed to the Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves, in a post on Twitter, on Friday, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed support for the fight that the country has been giving for the elimination of indigenous transmission of malaria and the elimination of vertical transmission of HIV.
With this post, Tedros Ghebreuesus made public his response to the invitation made last week by Minister Filomena Gonçalves, to officially visit Cape Verde, in the context of delivering certificates of a country free of malaria and vertical transmission of HIV-AIDS.
The public recognition follows a working meeting between the Director-General of WHO and the Minister of Health, on February 24, in Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 5th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety, which took place from February 23rd to 24th.
