Praia, Feb 18 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment said that the agricultural year 2020 in Cabo Verde “is far from being considered optimal”, but the scenario “is better” than that registered in the three consecutive years of drought.
Gilberto Silva made these affirmations to the press, this Wednesday, after a visit he made to the Hydroponics Center, in the City of Praia, to verify the process and the space for strawberries production, imported to “modernize and stimulate” the development of the fruit-growing sector in Cabo Verde.
Asked about the balance of the agricultural year in Cabo Verde, he said that compared to the previous three years, in which the country was affected by drought and a bad agricultural year, remembering that the agricultural year is not based solely on the production of corn.
“The agricultural year is not based solely on the production of corn, we had production in several places, we did not have that production we would like to have”, he concluded, pointing out the production of pastures in several islands in the country, as well as groundwater.
