Praia, April 03 (Inforpress) – The dockers of the Port of Praia may go on strike indefinitely from April 13 if Enapor does not suspend the modification of working hours that has been in force for more than 40 years.
The Chairman of the General Industry, Food, Construction, Agriculture and Related Services Union (SIACSA), Gilberto Lima, said to Inforpress that the demonstration held today and the notice of strike came following a meeting that the company scheduled for April 4 to discuss the timetable which has already been implemented.
“We received a note from the direction of the Port of Praia where we are invited to a meeting for tomorrow. But, what was not clear is the fact that they asked us to discuss the timetable, which has already started to be implemented since April 1st”, he explained.
For Gilberto Lima, there is a “incongruity” of the direction of the Port of Praia, which, before hearing the parties involved, in this case the workers,” opted for the implementation of everything that should be discussed on Tuesday.”
