Praia, Sep 27 (Inforpress) – Cardinal Arlindo Furtado said that the Bible is the base and the foundation the Church emerges the message of God, pointing out the need to give itself “a new value”, especially in the “dechristianized” world we live.
Bishop Arlindo Furtado made this consideration to the press, on the sidelines of the September Day – Bible Month, an initiative by theChristian Education School, institution of the Diocesan Church of Santiago.
At the time, he explained that the Bible is the book of God’s word, and for the Catholic Church came up and emerged from tradition, indicating that St. John states that not everything was written on what Jesus Christ said and did.
“What we received from the Apostles for us has a value which integrates the content that is in the Bible, which was done in the same context as the first church,” he said. According to his statements, the Bible is the base and foundation where the Church emerges its message and, therefore, St. Jerome, in the 4th century, already said that those who do not know the Bible do not know Jesus Christ.
