State Revenue: “Zero Risk Operation” aims to promote voluntary compliance with financial obligations

Praia, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The National Revenue Directorate of the State has been underway, since July 27, “Zero Risk Operation” to promote voluntary compliance with fiscal operations, in order to reduce the fiscal deficit and promote the formality in the economy.

The main objective of this initiative, according to a Government note, is also to increase the perception of risk, as well as to prevent situations where non-compliance persists with corrective and punitive action.

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the launch of this initiative in Praia, the coordinator of the Tax and Customs Inspection Services, José Monteiro, argued that it is “fundamental” the voluntary fulfillment of obligations by taxpayers.

Asked about the avoids tax evasion in Cabo Verde, the head of the National Directorate of State Revenue (DNRE) said that data from 2014 indicate that the fiscal deficit, “difference between potential collection and collection”, is 40 percent (%) in terms of Value Added Tax (VAT).
