Praia, Aug 13 (Inforpress) – The SINTSEL president, Manuel Barros, announced that private security workers will go on a three-day strike in September if their demands are not met.
After a meeting with the guards at the 5 de Julho park, in Praia, the head of the National Union of Public and Private Security, Services, Agriculture, Trade and Fisheries (SINTSEL) told the press that they are already “agonized” with the promise for implementing an agreement that comes since 2017 and the solution now is to go on strike.
At stake is the proposal for a salary increase established in the collective agreement that was revised in 2017 and with the promise of its implementation in January 2020, but has not yet been implemented.
“They are already exhausted [all forms of struggle] because it was a promise for January 2020 and today is August 12th, so we are already moving towards 2021 and, therefore, on our part, the solution (…) is a strike,” he announced.
