Assomada, Apr 2 (Inforpress) – The deputies of PAICV moved to Serra Malagueta where they expressed their solidarity with the population of Santa Catarina and Tarrafal, most affected by the fire which is still active and has already caused losses of animals and pasture.
“We are here because we are in solidarity with the populations of the municipalities of Santa Catarina and Tarrafal who are apprehensive, who have lost animals and pasture in this fire that continues to burn in the forest perimeter of Serra Malagueta”, said the spokeswoman for the African Party parliamentarians of the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV, opposition), Eveline Ramos.
The deputy, who was speaking to Inforpress, after visiting the fire site and contacting residents, welcomed the presence of those responsible for the municipalities of Santa Catarina and Tarrafal in the fight against the spread of fires in the protected areas of Serra Malagueta, in the municipalities of Santa Catarina and Tarrafal (Island of Santiago).
This parliamentarian highlighted the involvement and contribution of the population in combating this large-scale fire, which started on Saturday 01, in the morning, , in an area of difficult access in the forest perimeter of Serra Malagueta, which the population suspects of arson.
