Sea School in São Miguel will serve Santiago and the Southern Islands – Minister

Calheta, São Miguel, Dec 2 (Inforpress) – The Sea School – campus of Santiago, located at the former MDR’s facilities, in Achada Pizara, São Miguel, inaugurated this Wednesday, will serve the municipalities of Santiago and those at the Southern Islands.

The statement was made by the outgoing minister of the Sea, Paulo Veiga, who spoke at the inauguration of this vocational training school, stating that in addition to Santiago and the Southern Islands (Fogo, Brava and Maio) it will also serve the Boa Vista Island.

According to him, there are still many fishermen who do not know how to swim, he called on the Sea School to form them, to also teach them how to swim, first aid and survival at sea so that this class can be more capable.

The outgoing Minister also said that in addition to the Sea School, it’s planned the implementation of the Blue School pilot project, aiming to raise awareness and train the little ones early on the sea and the opportunities existing in it, especially how to keep it.
