Mindelo, Oct 26 (Inforpress) – The president of the Union of Industry, Food, Construction, Services and Agriculture (SIACSA) said today in Mindelo that “precarious work” continues in the island, despite “some progress” and “improvements” in some companies.
Gilberto Silva, speaking at the new union headquarters recently inaugurated in São Vicente, said that such “advances and improvements” are the result of SIACSA intervention, after denouncing that the labour situation on the island was “to cries to heaven”.
Regarding the precarious situations that still exist, Lima said that it comes from working conditions and are related to cases of violation of freedom of association, minimum wage and wage discrimination, among others.
In fact, the same source has named the Frescomar cannery, where workers are faced with “adverse situations and violation of their rights”, in particular with regard to the national minimum wage and wage discrimination, as some receive 12.000 escudos / month and others 13.000, some have food allowance and others do not.
