São Vicente Feb 4 (Inforpress) – The Uni-Piaget media library, campus of Mindelo, opens on Wednesday the exhibition ‘The Magic of images: A retrospective look at the Inforpress Photographic Archive’, which will be open to the public until the February 20th.
The exposed collection is the result of a digitization work that was started in 2011 by the Cabo Verdean Press Agency, Inforpress, in partnership with the Jean Piaget University and which was resumed in 2018.
The purpose of the exhibition is to showcase part of Inforpress’s photographic collection as a testimony of life in Cabo Verde and also to value and show the importance of images for a Press Agency, which “gains more relevance” every day in the new media scene, where users “don’t have time” and a “picture is worth a thousand words”.
“The oldest photographs in this exhibition come from the celebrations of the first year of independence in Santo Antão. I think it is an interesting exhibition for the Cabo Verdean public and not only, because it shows the evolution of the country through photographic records”, considered the same source, for whom the number of images “allow you to carry out other exhibitions” and also “publish a book with this theme”.
