Mindelo, Jul 12 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, was awarded, in Mindelo, by the President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, with the highest degree of Cabo Verdean distinction, the First Degree of the Amílcar Cabral Medal.
The event took place on Sunday morning at the People’s Palace in Mindelo, following a two-day visit the Guinean Head of State made to São Vicente.
According to the Presidential Decree, dated July 10, 2021, “the reality and will of the two countries dictate a strengthening of relations, which has been increasingly cherished as the fruit of a natural desire.”
“Diplomacy through his art is here called to make official what already a demand of our people, as well as in recognition of the personal commitment of the invaluable contribution of dedication and friendship placed by his excellency general of the army Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau in the rapprochement and relaunch of historical ties”, quotes the document, which now confirms a “new era”.
