São Vicente: Ulisses Correia e Silva says that current Government is out to the location of the university campus

Mindelo, June 29 (Inforpress) – The Prime minister on Monday urged in São Vicente to leave its government out of the discussion about the location of the Uni-CV campus because it was neither the basis of the decision nor of choice.

“Manifestations that may be made or indignation about location may be legitimate, but leave us out on this subject because we have not been in the basis of the decision or the basis of choice,” said Ulisses Correia e Silva, referring to the rally called by a group of citizens, from the social networks, for  July 5th, claiming a university campus for São Vicente.

The head of the Government then took the opportunity to explain the process that led to the launching of the first stone of the campus recently in Praia which, he said, began in November 2014 when the then Government of Cabo Verde expressed to the People’s Republic of China’s desire to build a university campus.

On January 18, 2016, the Prime Minister continued, the agreement of execution of the project was signed between the Cabo Verdean and Chinese governments, which “expressly” stipulated that it would be built in Zone K, Palmarejo, Santiago Island.
