Mindelo, Feb 7 (Inforpress) – The parties represented in the Municipal Assembly of São Vicente are asking the courts for a swift decision on the process of losing the mayor’s mandate so that the island can be freed, which will be managed in twelfths.
This position was expressed by the leaders of the municipal benches in an interview with Inforpress, following the news that the municipality of São Vicente will be managed during this year 2023 under the regime of twelfths, because the City Hall did not approve the management instruments, the municipal budget and the plan of activities for 2023.
According to the leader of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV, opposition) in the Municipal Assembly of São Vicente, Odair Cruz, if there is no effective change in the line of management of the municipality, in the City Hall, the situation will continue as well for the year 2024, until the mandate ends. Which he considers extremely serious for the development of the Island.
Thus, he maintained, “the best solution to unblock the situation”involves the “quick decision of the courts regarding the process of loss of mandate”.
