Mindelo, Oct 11 (Inforpress) – The head of the National Police’s traffic division, in São Vicente, said today that the crashing with a taxi was the probable cause of the car accident which killed the former Cabo Verdian soccer player Dométio Spencer.
According to Maurino Neves, the Honda Civic, which was transporting Dométio Spencer, along with two other players from the National Football Team, Carlos Rodrigues (Ponk) and Helder Tavares, ran off and crashed in the back side of a taxi, which was in transit in the same direction – city to airport – then it went out of its way and rolled over until it fell on a cliff.
According to Maurino Neves, when the police arrived at the scene of the car accident, they found only a 32-year-old young man, who was driving the vehicle and who was transported to the Baptista de Sousa Hospital e Dukinha Hospital, 42, who was declared dead.
The other athletes of the National Football Team, Carlos Rodrigues (Ponk) and Helder Tavares, who were in the vehicle, were going to take the TAP flight to Lisbon, after playing, this Sunday, at the Adérito Sena Stadium, in São Vicente, against the National Football Team of Liberia, to qualify for the World Cup 2022. But, he added that, when the PN arrived, they were no longer there and, therefore, they had to take other steps.
