Mindelo, Sep 26 (Inforpress) – Owners of two trucks and a backhoe loader should be fined in the coming days for illegal sand extraction at João Évora beach (Jon d´Ébra), the harbor captain said.
These three vehicles, according to Aguinaldo Lima told Inforpress, were arrested in “flagrant offense” and filed last week by the Maritime Police, as part of a regular inspection to this beach on the outskirts of São Vicente.
At the moment, according to the same source, both drivers and owners of lorries and backhoe loader are already notified of the fine imposed in the coming days. “We will apply the fine, but the process is still underway to decide the amount to be paid,” explained this responsible, adding that they have to “analyze case by case.”
However, he added, the owners of these vehicles incur a fine ranging from 50 thousand to 300 thousand escudos if it is individually owned, and 300 thousand to 4 million escudos if they belong to companies.
