São Vicente: MpD coordinator justifies absence from XIII Convention with “lack of transparency” in the composition of lists

Mindelo, 26 May (Inforpress) – The coordinator of the local political commission of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) in Sao Vicente, said today in Mindelo that there was a lack of transparency in the making of lists for the party’s 13th National Convention.

For this reason, Armindo Gomes does not participate in the National Convention of his party that takes place in Praia, the first after the re-election of Ulisses Correia e Silva as the president of the party that supports the governance.

According to Armindo Gomes “there will be a National Convention, which is the highest body of the party, but there will be no pluralism, debate, nor the participation of other currents that may exist in the party”.

This is because, he explained, the internal elections “were not what was desirable” because many militants “did not understand the reasons” for having “mixed elections for the leadership of the party” with “elections for choosing the head of the list for the convention”.
