Mindelo, Sep 29 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, today urged a reflection on the prominence of the city of Mindelo as a capital of culture due to generational transformation, which could put this at risk.
The governor made the “outburst” by signing a cooperation protocol, in Mindelo, with the Mindelo International Film Festival (Mindelact) and the International Film Festival – (Oiá).
For Abraão Vicente, cultural agents must come together to find out what is happening with the state of the art of culture in Cape Verde and on the island, when Mindelact is undergoing a transformation, the National Center for Crafts and Design (CNAD ) is still being reopened and the Mindelo Cultural Center needs a “colossal investment” to be a reference.
“It is necessary to reevaluate Mindelo as the capital of culture in Cabo Verde, because there is a spirit, there is a generation, but there is also a generational transformation that can put at risk the quality of artistic and cultural production in Cabo Verde”, maintained Abraão Vicente, pointing out the need for changes in the visual arts, performing arts and cultural production.
