Mindelo, Jan 28 (Inforpress) – About a dozen orthopedic surgeries were performed this week by the surgical mission in orthopedics that is at the Baptista de Sousa Hospital (HBS), in São Vicente, the result of cooperation with the Help Association from Belgium.
According to a note from HBS advisory, the objective of this mission, which ends today, was to make implantation of hip prostheses.
“Total hip arthroplasty surgeries are being performed by a Belgian team of two orthopedists, an instrumentalist and a physiotherapist, and local orthopedic professionals,” the same note said.
In November last year, the hospital also received a medical mission in ophthalmology, the first in this area, also the result of cooperation with the Help Association, which benefited about 100 patients.
In addition to the surgeries performed, HBS also received as a donation some ophthalmologic surgical equipment, which, according to the direction of the hospital, will contribute to a better quality of care and service provided to users.
