Mindelo, May 22 (Inforpress) – The 2023 edition of “taxon-poetry”, Mindelo International Poetry and Poetics Festival, starts on Thursday, and honors Cape Verdean writer and poet Vera Duarte, the organization announced today
According to the organization, this year the event, which returns after the covid-19 pandemic, honors Vera Duarte, “the first recognized poet in Cape Verdean literature and one of the resonant voices of the African continent, recognized by renowned critics, Studied at several universities and distinguished with international prizes, including the Tchicaya U Tam’si Prize for African Poetry.
The Mindelo International Festival of Poetry and Poetics begins with the opening of the Book Stand, at the Zero Point Art Gallery, and will present a selection of publishers and authors of poetry and various literary genres.
On the same day there will be two round tables, the first on “Landscape poetics: Identification, belonging and transculturality”, with António Alberto Alves, Grace Ribeiro and José Miguel Pires and the other on the theme “A boca no ouvido de alguém: corpo – identidade – língua” (The mouth in someone’s ear: body – identity) – language”, which addresses the anthology of poetry in Portuguese, with a presentation by Tiago Alves Costa.
