São Vicente: Government announces implementation of the Statute of the Elderly People from 2023

Mindelo, Sep 27 (Inforpress) – The Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Lídia Lima, declared Monday, in Mindelo, that the Statute of the Elderly People has already been approved in the Council of Ministers and it will be implemented from 2023.

“It is an instrument that will benefit the elderly people of the country in areas such as health, education, culture, leisure, safety and protection of all their rights”, said the Secretary of State, who spoke at the official opening of the week of the elderly people, which falls within the framework of the celebration of the International Day of the Elderly, on October 1.

Lídia Lima, in the presence of dozens of elderly people and representatives from public and solidarity institutions, civil and private society, present at the Jotamonte Academy, took the opportunity to announce that in 2023 the Government will increase by another three thousand the number of beneficiaries of the social pension.

At another point in her communication, the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion highlighted the “fundamental role” of the family and society and their engagement for the well-being and healthy aging of the elderly.
