Mindelo, 29 May (Inforpress) – Veterinary doctors and zootechnical engineers from Sao Vicente and Santo Antao are participating from today until Friday, June 2, in Mindelo, in a training session on artificial insemination of goats, an initiative of the Friends of Nature Association (AAN).
According to AAN’s executive director, Aguinaldo David, this is a project that aims to contribute to the organisation of the production chain of beef ruminants, increasing the productivity of traditional production systems, the quality and added value of meat and ways of marketing it on the islands of São Vicente and Santo Antão.
The training will last 27 hours, spread over five days, and will be given by Nestor Chagas, a specialist in Animal Reproduction Biotechnologies at Lisbon’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as part of a partnership that AAN has established with that Portuguese higher education institution.
According to the same source, it comprises a theoretical component, which will take place at the Mestre Cunco Professional Training Centre, in the city of Mindelo, and another practice at the Artificial Insemination Minilaboratory, in Ribeira de Vinha, built for this purpose, in Reproduction Center of the Association of Friends of Nature.
