Mindelo, Jul 22 (Inforpress) – The executive director of the African Football Confederation (CAF) – West Zone A, Gerson Melo, admitted Wednesday that the flights logistics to São Vicente has been the “biggest problem” for the organization of the Women’s Soccer League.
As the same source stated to Inforpress, in general terms the organization of the final stage of the African Champions League in women’s football, which takes place in Mindelo, this Saturday, 24th until July 30, takes place “in normality and with almost everything tuned”.
“But the logistics to put everyone in São Vicente has been our biggest problem. Everyone knows about the constraints of flights to the island and it has been really difficult even to put referees and national leaders here”, explained Gerson Melo, citing the example of three referees, one from Fogo and two from Santiago, who have not yet been able to travel and “do not even have a forecast for this”.
According to the CAF leader, the organization of the competition has been looking for alternatives by sea, but even so “it is difficult”. Gerson Melo welcomes, however, the possibility they had to get the four teams participating in the championship in São Vicente even today.
