Mindelo, Sep 14 (Inforpress) – Councilman for Civil Protection, José Carlos da Luz, guaranteed that São Vicente “behaved well” in the early morning rains on Sunday, “without any recordable occurrences” and with “good functioning” drainage systems.
“There is nothing to register, there were firefighters’ interventions, but they were commonplace”, assured the responsible this morning to Inforpress, after a round in some areas of the island.
José Carlos da Luz stated that the rainwater drainage systems “worked well” and with no record of flooding, despite the “good flow” of water during the night / dawn.
The Councilman took the opportunity to appeal to the population to continue to behave “as usual”, proceeding to clean around the houses and terraces, and unblocking the water pipes, since the rains still continue to fall.
But, on the other hand, according to the same source, the “biggest concern” remains, which are the precarious houses built on the slopes and, therefore, people should seek shelter at the home of relatives or neighbors or contact the Civil Protection Services for the resettling, for example, in schools.
