São Vicente: AfriYAN brings together young people to gather insights and take their voice to the Government

Mindelo, Feb 10 (Inforpress) – The African Youth Network for Population and Development in Cabo Verde (AfriYAN Cabo Verde) will collect on Saturday, in Mindelo, input on São Vicente, which will be taken to the first meeting of the Youth Council.

The Initiative, which is called “Txa-m uvib (let me hear you, in English) came about after the appointment of AfriYAN Cabo Verde’s President, Janice da Graça as a member of the Youth Advisory Council, next to the first Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva.

Therefore, as Janice da Graça herself said to Inforpress, they intend to gather this Saturday afternoon, from 3:00PM, in the courtyard of the University of Cabo Verde in Mindelo, about 100 young people and thus listen to their ideas and concerns, which then “will be taken to the highest level”. She assured that she decided to make the decision, first, since one of the recommendations coming out of the Nairobi Summit ICPD 25, in which she participated as a member of AfriYAN, was to promote the participation of young people in local development.

And, on the other hand, to “improve” her participation in the Youth Advisory Council, which should be installed soon, “I decided to combine the two objectives. I have my position and my own convictions, but each young person has his/her voice and his/her ideas about what he/she wants to see improved in São Vicente and in the country ”, she explained.
