Mindelo, Nov 30 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, considered Sunday, at the end of the craft and design fair – Urdi, in Mindelo, that the “biggest gain” of these five years of the event was the sector consolidation.
According to the same source, this edition of Urdi was special for several reasons, the main one being “the strength to believe and not to give up”.
Abraão Vicente thus emphasized the perseverance of the artisans during the five days of the fair, which did not give up, even with the pandemic that forced the event to adapt to the new times and to have the points of sale in the artisans’ own homes and on the various islands of Cabo Verde. Urdi, according to Abraão Vicente, was the only event that resisted the COVID-19, thanks to the efforts of the National Center for Crafts and Design (CNAD) team, the organization and the artisans.
“Five years is enough to consolidate the brand and the concept and to leave the hope that, regardless of the outcome of the 2021 elections and whether it will be me or someone else ahead, I am absolutely sure that the team led by me and this team here in Mindelo, led by Irlando, did the best they could so that after five years the craftsmanship would be on another level”, he defended.
