Tarrafal, Jan 19 (Inforpress) – The president of the São Nicolau – Urzela artisans’ association, Mateus Ramalho, considered on Tuesday that handicrafts have “a good potential”, but highlighted the negative impact the COVID-19 is having have on the sector.
Speaking to Inforpress, Mateus Ramalho points out that handicrafts have “good potential in terms of abour force”, but stressed that with the emergence of the pandemic, like other sectors, handicrafts have also suffered negative impacts.
“We have several talents in the field of handicrafts who, with their work, value this area. Despite the impacts of the pandemic, however, we have tried to overcome the difficulties”, he highlights.
Regarding the professional recognition of the artisan made by the National Center for Crafts and Design (CNAD), the official says that this is an initiative of “extreme importance” for the class, since the recognition of their works will reach another level.
