Ribeira Brava, April 20 (Inforpress) – The ninth edition of Sodad, the Festival of Mornas taking place this Saturday, April 22, will honor Vila da Praia Branca, the birthplace of Armando Zeferino Soares, the author of the famous morna “Sodad” and the stage of the festival.
In a press conference, the councilor for culture of the Municipal Council of Tarrafal de São Nicolau, Adildo Soares Gomes, announced that this year’s festival will feature performances by 18 artists from the islands of São Vicente, Sal, Santiago, and Maio.
“The festival will take place in the same format that has been carried out since 2013, meaning that we have our partners, which are the municipal councils of other municipalities, we have our patron, Nhelas Spencer, and also artists who volunteer to come and sing at the festival,” he said.
According to him, prior to the festival night, the municipality, in partnership with the Institute of Cultural Heritage (IPC), will hold the usual conference on morna.
