São Filipe, Apr 5 (Inforpress) – The mayor of Sao Filipe, Nuías Silva, said on Monday that the municipality of São Filipe is also mourning for the death of the mayor of Viseu, Portugal, with whom he has had a twinning agreement for almost 30 years.
In reaction to the death this Monday in Portugal of António Almeida Henriques, Nuías Silva said that “it is with deep sadness and regret he received the news of the death of Almeida Henriques, mayor of Viseu since 2013”, noting that in addition to being mayor of a twinning City Hall with São Filipe for several years (27), it was also a common and regular presence in the celebrations of the São Filipe feasts.
Recently, in November 2019, Almeida Henriques was in the island of Fogo in the framework of the third edition of “Morabeza, festa do Livro”.
The mayor of São Filipe, who took office in November 2020, also said that since taking office he has been making contacts to reactivate twinning agreement with Viseu, which he said gave much to São Filipe in terms of vocational training and other areas of cooperation.
