Sao Filipe: Former Mayor appeals to court to demand the transitional allowance payment

Sao Filipe, March 29 (Inforpress) – The former mayor of the City  Hall of Sao Filipe, Luis Pires, filed this Monday an administrative action against the municipality of Sao Filipe demanding  the the transitional allowance payment following the ending the service provided.

Six months after leaving office, according to the former mayor of Sao Filipe, he has not yet received the transitional allowance, either for the ending of the councilor function between 2008 and 2012, or as Mayor of the City Hall between 2012 and 2016, notwithstanding the amount provided for in the 2016 budget.

The former mayor had agreed with the current mayor, Jorge Nogueira, the transitional allowance payment, in the amount of 1.464.000 escudos, in installments, half of which should be paid at the end of 2016, but when he went to receive he was informed that only would be paid 50 percent of the amount, corresponding to the Mayor functions, the part corresponding to the councilman function should await to check legality.

In addition to 1.464.000 escudos corresponding to six months of allowance as a councilman (648.000 escudos) and 816.000 escudos as mayor, the former mayor requires the payment of one million escudos for moral damages, plus interest due and maturing up to the full payment of amounts required.
