Ribeira Grande, Oct 13 (Inforpress) – Residents from Mão para Trás complain about the open sewer and disgusting smell, because, according to them, three months ago the CMRG “patched up” the problem, and yet they still live this “drama”.
Julia Santos, a resident at the community, said to Inforpress that the sewage problem has been “a long time. And, in her opinion, Mão para Tras is a small town, so the situation should already be resolved.
“A few months ago we came to the media to denounce a public health problem that was the open sewer here in Mão para Tras. The Autonomous Water and Sanitation Service (SAAS) from the City Hall of Ribeira Grande dug a sump near the sea, but they did not cover it,” explained Júlia Santos.
Thus, the same source emphasized that when the tide is high fills the fossa and it overflows into the locality, which, in her view, can put at risk the health of residents, because, in addition to the disgusting smell, it attracts insects and causes various diseases.
