Porto Novo, Aug 12 (Inforpress) – Coffee producers in the upper areas of the island of Santo Antão hope to achieve another good harvest this year, thanks to the good rainfall recorded in recent days in these localities.
This is the case of Santa Isabel and nearby areas, where, according to the president of the local farmers’ association, Benvindo Melo “rained a lot” in recent days, a fact opens “good prospects for a good coffee harvest” in 2021, as last year, he told.
“Some farms are already blooming and these rains make us believe this year there will also be good coffee production in Santa Isabel and surrounding areas,” Benvindo Melo said.
In 2020, the coffee harvest in the upper areas in the island of Santo Antão, especially Santa Isabel, “pleased” farmers, who came from three years of drought, which led the product “falling”.
In relation to other crops, this responsible said that, despite difficulties in seed acquisition, farmers have already started the first sowing.
