Porto Novo, Apr 16 (Inforpress) – Livestock farmers in several localities at East Plateau in Santo Antão, especially in Lagoa and the surrounding area, are currently unable to save their animals, which are dying due to “difficulties” in the purchase of feed.
Francisco Lopes, one of the livestock farmers, thinks that the Government should “look at the faces” of families who, in the second year of consecutive drought, can not save their livestock because there is no job and, therefore, how to get the feed for the animals.
“The Government should look at people in those years of drought. There are families that are running out of nothing to survive. Anyway, the situation is quite difficult. They should look more into the field”, pleaded the livestock farmer, who confirmed that he was losing part of his cash.
Another livestock farmer, Domingos Dias, said that in terms of livestock, they are “facing a very difficult situation”, warning that the peasants no longer have “nothing to do with animals that are actually dying”.
