Porto Novo, May 25 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, recognized on Tuesday, in Santo Antão, the impact, both social and productive, of projects have been implemented on this island with the support of Portuguese Cooperation.
Speaking to the press, at the end of a day visit to Santo Antão, João Gomes Cravinho said that, at the social level, the projects carried out on this island with the support of Portugal have benefited, above all, children and the elderly.
In economic terms, the actions implemented in Santo Antão, within the framework of Portuguese Cooperation, have mainly focused on agriculture, allowing the conditions to be created for young people to return to their areas of origin, which were being depopulated.
The Portuguese Minister highlighted the drought as one of the main challenges of this island, ensuring that Portugal will continue to look to Santo Antão and find ways to continue to help this region overcome the difficulties created by the current conjuncture.
