Santo Antão is one of the islands covered in the tourism revival plan – Minister

Porto Novo, Dec 1 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Tourism and Transport, Carlos Santos, announced this Monday, the 30th, that Santo Antão is one of the islands covered by the tourism revival plan in Cabo Verde, which will be implemented in the coming 18 months.

Carlos Santos, who is on the last day of a five-day visit to Santo Antão, explained that, in addition to the “island of the mountains”, the plan for the tourism revival in Cabo Verde, conceived “within the scope of COVID-19”, it also covers Santiago, Fogo, Brava and São Nicolau.

“We have already mobilized three million dollars to finance this program in the next 18 months”, said the government official, who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the local networks project for sustainable and inclusive tourism in Santo Antão (Raízes), that took place in Porto Novo.

The plan for the tourism revival in the country includes, according to the minister, nature tourism “as being one of the elements” that must be taken into consideration to relaunch the tourism sector in Cabo Verde.
