Porto Novo, Oct 3 (Inforpress) – “Música e Grogue” is the name of a company created in Tarrafal in Monte Trigo, Santo Antão, by a group of producers that, from October, began to bottle the grogue of this locality with a view to their export.
Simão Évora, managing partner of this company, said that it is a “pilot experiment”, in which one intends to bottle a thousand liters of old and normal grogue, with a local brand, that will be placed in the national tourist markets, but also in the Cabo Verdean diaspora.
According to Simão Évora, after the bottling, the great challenge of producers has now to do with the certification of the grogue produced in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo as a way to make it more competitive and facilitate its insertion, especially in international markets.
The well-known grogue that takes place in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, an area that, besides agriculture and fishing, also has many tourist potentialities, has already arrived to several countries of the world through tourists, but the intention of the producers is “to prepare a product capable of competing at national and international markets,”said the producer.
