Porto Novo, Aug 11 (Inforpress) – The support promised to farmers in Santo Antão for the recovery of their farmlands damaged almost a year ago during the September floods can still reach August or the beginning of September.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) and the municipalities of Santo Antão are expected to sign a program contract in which local authorities will be responsible for carrying out interventions on the land, according to a ministry official in Santo Antão.
In the case of Porto Novo, the MAA delegate, Joel Barros, confirmed that the farmland recovery work will be carried out by the City Hall of Porto Novo under a program contract.
The mayor of Porto Novo, Aníbal Fonseca, assured that, although the program contract has not yet been signed, interventions on the land which will focus in particular on Alto Mira may begin within a month.
