Ribeira Grande, Jun 2 (Inforpress) — The chess player Eder Pereira, from Sal Island, was the big winner of the national stage of the Cabo Verde Cup in Chess, closed this Tuesday in a hotel in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, Santo Antão.
Eder Pereira won the title in the third match against Luís Fernandes, from São Vicente, second place. The podium of the competition was completed with Ivandro Rosa from the city of Praia in third.
Speaking to the press, the Cabo Verde Cup in chess champion said he was very pleased to have won the competition, “especially” because it was the first edition. “For me, it’s something I’ll always remember as a historical milestone,” said Eder Pereira, who stressed the tournament itself was “well played.”
In turn, the president of the Cabo Verdean Chess Federation, Francisco Carapinha, praised the competition and said it was the “best competition ever” held in Cabo Verde.
