Ribeira Grande, Aug 14 (Inforpress) – The Brazilian embassy in Cabo Verde launched in Ribeira Grande, Santo Antão, the book “Simão, O Intrépido Marinheiro”, inspired by a character “typically Cabo Verdean”, Simão Salvador, according to words of ambassador José Leitão.
José Leitão explained that, due to the success of the project that preceded the book “Simão, O Intrépido Marinheiro”, which was the transformation into a comic book of a novel by Aloísio de Azevedo, a Brazilian author from Maranhão who even won prizes, encourage him to do the same with a character typically Cabo Verdean and the chosen one was Simão Salvador.
“We started to work in this direction and today we are here to present this work.
The idea is to disseminate the work to high school students so that they can learn more about the story of a Cabo Verdean hero,” said ambassador José Leitão.
The Brazilian diplomat added that they are going to distribute the book in schools starting with the City of Praia and, later, intends to take it to the entire archipelago. In turn, the Mayor of Ribeira Grande (CMRG) said that the work is “of great importance” for the history of the municipality, taking into account the figure that was Simão Salvador.
