Santo Antão: Associations from Porto Novo complete training course and receive kits

Porto Novo, Feb 15 (Inforpress) – Nine farmers’ associations in the municipality of Porto Novo completed training course in techniques for the modernization of agriculture and received, on Sunday, 14th, a kit that will facilitate the implementation of the knowledge acquired during the training.

Each of the participating associations received a ‘kit’, consisting of a hoe and a scale with a capacity of 150 kilograms, provided by the Santo Antão Employment and Professional Training Center, in the approximate amount of 200 million escudos.

The closing ceremony of the course and deliver the kits was chaired by the Minister of Maritime Economy, Paulo Veiga.

On the occasion, the minister explained the relationship between agriculture and the maritime economy, assuming that the Government’s bet on the maritime economy and the development of the Special Maritime Economic Zone (ZEEM), which covers the islands of Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia and São Nicolau, “will depend a lot on the evolution of agriculture”.
