Porto Novo, Jul 12 (Inforpress) – The Planalto Leste Women Association (Amupal), in Santo Antão, is already producing plants within the framework of the Agri-forestry Systems Project of this island, which consist, among other actions, in the installation of three experimental fields.
The Amupal president, Josefa Sousa, confirmed that, under this project, the first experiments of plant production for the experimental fields, which are being implemented in Santo Antão, already take place in the nursery of this association in Águas das Caldeiras.
In the experimental fields, which will be located in the Planalto Norte, Planalto Leste and in Casa de Meio (Porto Novo), will be implemented “a widely differing” farming cultures for human and animal feed, according to the project promoter, the Association for the Defense of Heritage of Mértola, in Portugal.
The project on agri-forestry systems, which has been implemented since March in Santo Antão, lasts for 20 months and also provides for the training of farmers and livestock farmers in order to take more income from their activity.
